Pack the Bus- Back to School Event

We are calling on the community once again to help provide for these students. With the transition back to in-person learning after 16 months away, they need new supplies more than ever.

SunLine Transit Agency came out on a super hot day to pack a bus with school supplies at the Walmart in Palm Desert. There is a shortage this year for these supplies and I was happy to donate about $250 of my community assistance money to help fill that bus. We supplied backpacks, paper, pens and pencils, erasers, markers, scissors, crayons, colored pencils and much more (a whole basket full) all for the Palm Springs Unified School District! Happy to help our kids – the next generation!

Coachella Valley residents are invited to drop off school supplies for local students in need at a donation event this week in Palm Desert at the Monterey Walmart, Thursday July 22, 2021 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Walmart, located at 34-500 Monterey Ave.

“We are calling on the community once again to help provide for these students. With the transition back to in-person learning after 16 months away, they need new supplies now more than ever,” said Lauren Skiver, the agency’s CEO and general manager.

Organizers are asking for new backpacks, safety scissors, #2 pencils and notebook paper in particular, though other commonly used supplies will also be accepted. The event is Coachella Valley Rescue Mission.
