Lift to Rise- Rental Assistance

For more than a year now, thousands of families throughout Coachella Valley have lost their jobs or had their work hours drastically reduced due to the effects of COVID-19. This rental assistance program is for both those who are behind as well as those struggling to pay their rent due to these dire circumstances.

Help came to Cathedral City in April with the Lift to Rise event that assisted anyone who was behind on their rent due to COVID-19-related issues.  Applicants were eligible for a grant to pay up to 15 months of back and future payments.

The event was held at the Cathedral City amphitheater, at 68526 Avenida Lalo Guerrero. More than $57 million was available for rental assistance in Riverside County. The program provided one-time rental assistance support to cover up to 12 months of unpaid rent from March 13, 2020, to the time of application, plus an additional three months of future rent.

United Lift — a joint effort by Lift to Rise, Inland SoCal United Way and Riverside County, as well as Cathedral City Councilmembers Nancy Ross and Rita Lamb were onsite to help renters with the application process.

Assistance is provided without regard to immigration status, officials said.

“For more than a year now, thousands of families throughout Coachella Valley have lost their jobs or had their work hours drastically reduced due to the effects of COVID-19,”  Ross said. “This rental assistance program is for both those who are behind as well as those struggling to pay their rent due to these dire circumstances.”
